EDITORIAL COMMENTS DEATH AND TAXES The old saying that we are sure of nothing in this world excepting death and taxes was never truer than it is today, with the mounting national debt, state and city taxes, growing every day, hidden taxes, sales tax, income tax, and a host of others. It is discouraging to the average man who must foot the bill. Election of proper officials is of vital importance if this mountain of taxes is ever to be decreased. We have been operating on an economy rate. Of course defense operations should not be counted as anything we should not have to pay for, but we should be sure that in the future we do not have to pay for every dollar that is spent.
Interpretation
Model opinion, not evidence: mood: neutral; themes: taxation, government spending, public commentary; style notes: Static close-up of printed text; high-contrast black-and-white; typographic layout with bold headline and cartoon illustration.

A newspaper editorial page titled 'DEATH AND TAXES' is shown, featuring text and a cartoon drawing of a hand holding a gun. No people or spoken dialogue are present in this beat.

The record

No renewal found An automated finding, not a verdict. A renewal would have appeared in the Copyright Office's renewal registrations 27 to 29 years after the term began. Those volumes are loaded and our parse of them found no matching renewal. If that is right, a work published 1931–1963 that was not renewed entered the public domain at the end of its 28th year; the volumes are OCR of old print, and the method page reports how often the parse has been found to miss one. Evidence dossier. The finding concerns the US copyright record for the film; it is not clearance for any use, and this page's annotation is machine output.
